Biogas Park in Fulda

Biogaspark in Fulda

Summary/Description:

Biothan GmbH, a subsidiary of GWV Fulda, GWV Osthessen, and the city of Fulda, built a highly innovative plant for the production of biogas at their site in Finkenberg. Here biogenic residues (organic wastes and slurry) are being fermented. The produced biogas is refined up to the natural gas quality and then fed into the existing gas grid. Hereby valuable regenerative energy is produced from waste.
The biogas park consists of a wet and a dry fermentation plant, including biogas treatment and composting. The biogas feed-in facility, a composting plant and a transfer station were erected at this side by a third party and were integrated into the plant. The construction of the biogas park was carried out in two steps. The construction of the second step (dry fermentation) took place in parallel to the implementation of the first step (wet fermentation)

The planning consortium Witzenhausen-Institut für Abfall, Umwelt und Energie GmbH and u&i were assigned as main planner of the biogas park Großenlüder by Biothan GmbH.
