Logistics and Energy optimisation concepts
Frequently, the consumption of resources, and in particular energy, to operate a plant or manufacture a product is higher than it actually needs to be. Increased energy consumption is caused by incorrect dimensioned/outdated equipment or simply by leaks and inadequate thermal insulation of pipes and vessels.
The objective of every energy optimization program is to reduce the specific energy consumption and thus costs. For this purpose, an assessment of the existing conditions is conducted, possible energy optimization potentials are determined and corresponding solution concepts are developed. Positive side effect - every energy optimization is a contribution to protect the environment and fight climate change.
Another aspect for potential cost reductions lies in a sophisticated logistics concept.
Logistics systems are comprised of several subsystems. These cover the whole production cycle from procurement to production, distribution and disposal logistics. Each subsystem consists of material and information flows, as well as storage systems, and are differentiated into single-stage and multi-stage systems.
The basis of each logistics system is the definition of material flows and their optimization. The more efficiently the associated processes run, the lower the costs in operation will be. It is important to note that the logistics system needs to be considered as early as the concept phase of project, in order to avoid costs for modifications to processing equipment or building infrastructures.
