With effect from 1 July 2022, umweltttechnik & ingenieure (u&i) GmbH, based in Hanover, has acquired 100 per cent of the shares in Ingenieurbüro für Abfallwirtschaft und Energietechnik (IBA) GmbH, which is also based in Hanover.

Following many years of successful collaboration on a wide variety of projects, the two companies are now united under one roof. The acquisition of IBA GmbH will enable the synergies already utilised in the past to be harnessed even more effectively. The acquisition will thus allow both companies to address business areas relating to the mechanical and biological treatment of material streams even more intensively and comprehensively. By integrating the relevant specialist departments of u&i GmbH, IBA GmbH will in future be able to offer, in addition to project planning, an enhanced range of in-house specialist planning services in the fields of structural and electrical engineering. u&i GmbH, in turn, is supplementing and expanding its range of services in the area of studies and concepts relating to the circular economy, particularly for waste treatment and waste recovery facilities.

Dr Ketel Ketelsen, a long-standing shareholder and managing director of IBA GmbH, will step down from the company’s management following the sale, but will continue to be available to the planning team in an advisory capacity.

The new management of IBA GmbH will be jointly held by Mr Andreas Traue, Dipl.-Ing., a long-standing employee of iba GmbH, and Dr Tammo Rebling of u&i GmbH. The new premises of iba GmbH have been relocated to Wöhlerstraße 42, 30163 Hanover, the registered office of u&i GmbH.
