Circular Economy

The term Circular Economy describes an economic system that aims to achieve the highest possible resource efficiency. A further core principle is the recovery of the raw materials contained in a product at the end of its useful life and making them available again for the economic cycle - this is generally referred to as recycling.

While recycling for certain types of materials, such as paper, glass or metal, has a long tradition, especially in Germany, viable recycling concepts for other materials such as plastic packaging or multi-layer beverage containers have not been established. The main reasons for this are of technical as well as economic and regulatory origin.
