Soil Treatment / Recycling of Building Materials

A flourishing construction industry entails an increased need for resources. This has an immediate impact on raw material extraction and construction material recycling since many construction materials can be recycled. Regionally there are strong bottlenecks, so construction materials have to be procured transregionally and additional storage space and processing capacity for building materials have to be created regionally.

In the construction material and soil preparation industry, material from demolition and also excavated soils from the private and municipal construction sites have always been processed and recovered so that the recycling materials could be sold. The latter are classified according to LAGA M20 in Z0 to Z2 materials and recycled with the corresponding industrial manufacturing equipment. Materials that have a quality assignment value> Z2 require special technical security measures and cannot be used as recycling materials.

The companies that produce these goods (construction materials and soil) are certified according to the Closed Material Loop Management Act as waste disposal companies (Section 56 KrwG) in accordance with the Efb Regulation (EfbV). The input materials include demolition materials from the construction industry such as concrete, bitumen, bricks, tiles, ceramics, soils, stones and their mixtures. These materials are processed into mineral mixtures and in turn, are offered to the construction industry as a building material. The non-mineral components such as wood, plastic, ferrous metal, non-ferrous metal and contaminants are segregated and either further recycled or disposed of by appropriate disposal companies in accordance with the regulation on the European waste catalogue (AVV).

Depending on the recycling materials (Z0, Z1, Z2), the location, the environment and available processing equipment, companies for building material and soil preparation can be approved in accordance with the Building Code (BauGB) or the Federal Immission Control Act (BImSchG).

Recycling facilities for construction and demolition (C&D) waste require process engineering and civil engineering planning services, both of which we are happy to take over for you.

C&D waste and soil recycling often include the following plant areas:

  • Delivery
  • Weighing and control unit
  • Tire washing system
  • Storage for input material
    • Concrete, bitumen mix, bricks, tiles, ceramic, soil, stone
    • Railway ballast, gravel, sand, grit, topsoil
    • Z0-Z2 materials (indoor storage)
  • Storage for recycling materials
    • Mineral mixture (RC material)
  • Various crushing and screening components
  • Transport units: wheeled loaders, trucks, conveyor belts
  • Possibly emission protection wall systems

Ultimately, each system is individually adapted to project-specific requirements and customer requests. The aim is always to operate an economical system to recycle high-quality building materials from demolition materials. In our view, this is an important contribution to the circular economy.

In recent years we have been able to actively support a wide variety of companies with their projects in the field of building material recycling/soil treatment. This took place over various planning phases and concerns. Contact us for further information.
